Jesse Weltevreden was born in Woerden (Utrecht) on December 27, 1978. In 1997, he received his Atheneum diploma from the Meerwegen College in Amersfoort and commenced his education in human geography at Utrecht University. In the course of his studies he developed an interest in international economics and economic geography, a field in which he eventually specialised and graduated in 2002. Immediately afterwards he became a Ph.D. student at the Faculty of Geosciences at Utrecht University. His Ph.D. thesis focused on the   implications of e-shopping for retailing at city centres. From January 2006 through July 2007 he worked as a post-doctorate researcher at the Netherlands Institute of Spatial Research (Ruimtelijk Planbureau) in The Hague. Since August 2007 he is working at BOVAG as head of the research department. Jesse Weltevreden is the author of "Shopping in the Internet Age" (Winkelen in het Internettijdperk) which was published in 2007. Since April 2010 Jesse is professor of E-business at the Hogeschool van Amsterdam.

Jesse Weltevreden is op 27 december 1978 geboren in Woerden. Nadat hij in 1997 zijn Atheneum diploma had behaald aan het Meerwegen College in Amersfoort, ging hij Internationale Economie & Economische Geografie studeren aan de Universiteit Utrecht. Direct na het afronden van zijn universitaire studie in 2002, begon hij met met een promotie-onderzoek bij de Faculteit Geowetenschappen van de Universiteit Utrecht. In 2006 promoveerde hij op een onderzoek naar de gevolgen van b2c e-commerce voor de detailhandel in Nederlandse binnensteden. Van januari 2006 tot en met juli 2007 was hij werkzaam als postdoconderzoeker bij het Ruimtelijk Planbureau. Daar deed hij vooral onderzoek naar b2c e-commerce, de detailhandel en de werkgelegenheidseffecten van bedrijfsmigratie. Sinds augustus 2007 is hij werkzaam als hoofd Onderzoek bij BOVAG. Jesse Weltevreden is auteur van het boek "Winkelen in het Internettijdperk" dat in 2007 verscheen. Sinds april 2010 is Jesse lector Online Ondernemen op de Hogeschool van Amsterdam.
